A winter video

It runs in the Family

We were talking about "A Christmas Story"(1983) on Saturday, & I mention there was a sequel to it. If interested this is what that movie, "It Runs in the Family",(1994) is about....
It is now summer in the Parker family; and the usual amount of numerous events are happening in their separate lives. Ralphie is searching for the perfect top to use to beat the school bully with, the Old Man is in battle with their hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpus, while eagerly awaiting the discovery of the perfect fishing spot, and the Mother is attempting to collect all of the pieces of a glass china set at a local movie theater.
Now, you can tell by the picture, they changed the movie title to "My Summer Story". I think this is only on the packages at the stores, because everytime I see it on tv, it says "It Runs in the Family". I could not find any info on why. But, there was another movie made in 2003 that had the same title (with Michael & Kirk Douglas). Now to make it more confusing... Macaulay Culkin's brother Kieran played Ralphie, his other brother Christian played Ralphie's brother Randy. And their other brother Rory, played the son in the 2003 version. Did you get all that?

Top 10 Saturday

This top 10 is the top 10 space movies. I am not a real big fan of this kind of movie, so movies that are on critics best of list, many of those I don't like. (2001 A Space Odyssey, The Right Stuff (never seen) Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind) As you can see, I like comedies. 3 of these movies were also on the disaster movie list. #1 was the same on both lists.

  1. Armageddon (1998) great movie
  2. Spaceballs (1987) very funny movie
  3. Deep Impact (1998)
  4. Flight of the Navigator (1986) Kid movie but good
  5. Apollo 13 (1995)
  6. Galaxy Quest (1999) another funny movie
  7. Starship Troopers (1997) very underrated movie
  8. Planet of the Apes (1968) very good year
  9. Star Wars (1977) 1st one was the best
  10. Explorers (1985) another kid movie

Top 10 (20)

There was so many movies I liked in this category I decided to do a top 20 list. I won't do this often, because it takes up to much space. This list is the TOP 20 SCHOOL MOVIES of all time. If there was a school scene, it could be on the list. Entertainment Weekly did a top 50 list on the same subject. I put the # they were on there list behind the name. note: Dead Poet's Society (Dawn disliked this movie alot) was #20 on EW list, it did not make mine.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) #2
16 Candles (1984) #49
Dazed & Confused (1992) #3
Election (1999) #9
American Graffiti (1973) #6
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) #10
Grease (1978) #21
Taps (1981) NR
School Ties (1992) NR
Hoosiers (1986) #25
Back to the Future (1985) #28
Heathers (1989) #5
Toy Soldiers (1989) NR
Lean On Me (1989) NR
American Pie (1999) #22
The Faculty (1998) NR
Breakfast Club (1985) #1
My Bodyguard (1979) #45
Carrie (1976) #15
Emperor's Club (2002) NR

I can't believe 6 on my list did not make there list. The movies "Elephant" & "10 things I hate about you" almost made my list. For some reason, all my #'s disappeared. Sorry about that.

Movie Review

I went to see Four Christmases on Thurs. It started Reese witherspoon & Vince Vaughn. It was funny and good for the first two-thirds, but then it got serious at the end. The scene when they (the family) was playing a board game (Taboo) was probably the funniest part. I don't think this is a must see, wait for it on dvd..but because it was about Christmas, it probably won't come out until next Nov or Dec. I'll give it a 6 1/2 out of 10.

IT'S SNOWING!!

Did it snow at your house? I know it snowed in Oak Hill, & at Rockin Tomato (Lamar), And I think it snowed at my house. Snow was still on cars but not ground. At least we don't have to wake up early & shovel snow.

I keep forgetting to tell everyone...if you have your own top 10 list you want everyone to see, put it in the comment section or e-mail me the list, & I will put it on the blog.

Top Ten Christmas Style

Well, Christmas is right around the corner, so I am doing my top 10 list on my favorite Christmas movies (including tv). You won't find "It's A Wonderful Life" because I haven't seen the whole movie. I did not include any tv specials (Charlie Brown) because they are usually 1/2 hr long. I saw a list of Christmas movies, and "Trading Places" is on that list. I do not remember this being a Christmas film, so I left it off the list).

1) A Christmas Sory (1983)

2) Elf (2003)

3) Planes, Trains, & Automobiles (1987)

4) Die Hard (1988)

5) Home Alone (1990)

6) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

7) Christmas Every Day (1997) tv movie

sick

Well it looks like something is going around. Both Dad & Dawn missed Monday night get together because they were not feeling well. Hope you both feel better.
Well at least the Vikings played well Sunday night, and now are in 1st place all by them self. Next week they play the 0-12 Lions. Usually you are thrilled when you play a lousy team, but give it to the Vikes, they will be the first team to lose to the Lions this year. Last time we played them (at home) we won 12-10. But I hope they play well again, & win.
