The First Lady

First Lady Michelle Obama showed up Thursday as a surprise and welcome volunteer at Miriam's Kitchen, a soup kitchen for homeless poor people not far from the White House. Can’t afford to buy food, not when you have to pay for the new cell phone with camera. Maybe we can start a charity which donates unused minutes to the homeless and poor.

How about that!

There is a Wed night poker game that I have been invited to for over a year, but because it cost $25, I never did it, because I would like to go back every week, & that cost $$$. So, if I get my store I won't be able to play there, so I decided I better do it now. So last week I got 12th out of 30 players...this week, I won the damn thing, out of 33 players. I won $350.00. It comes in very handy for all these licences I have to pay for.

movie review

Last Sunday I went to my friend Jason's house to watch the movie "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas". It's a movie I wanted to see for a long time, but I don't think it was in a theater in Austin. Anyway, if you are looking for a a feelgood movie, or a movie to cheer you up, this is not for you. It's about a 8 yr old boy who's father gets a new job which is the head of a Nazi concentration camp. From his bedroom window he can see it. He thinks it is a farm. One day he is bored and takes a walk and finds himself at the fence. He sees another 8 year old boy on the other other side, & they become friends. The rest of the film deals with him about his trying to find the truth about the farm (camp). I liked it. Not much action, but a good story. Jason thought there was no connection between the 2 boys. They should have spent more on their friendship.

Ad campaign

If I get my liquor store, should I use this picture for my advertisement? Also, I am asking people to come up with a name of the store. It is M S Liquors, & officially I going to keep that name but looking for 2 words that start with M S to make it sound better. Right now the leader is Mighty Slick Liquor.(Marcie came up with that)
Also the picture with dad infront of the blank sign...Dad says that is from the Lady Bird Flower Center, & is pretty sure something was on that sign, it just did not show up on camera.

MINNESOTA vs. texas

On Thursay the Gophers of Minn will play the Longhorns of Texas in the 1st round of the NCAA basketball tourney...WOW. I'm excited. But if Texas wins, it's going to be a long weekend. Texas is favored to win. I hope it's a close game. It will be misery to live here if it's a blow out.

Such sad news.....

Six Flags at half mast

"Six Flags Inc. announced yesterday that , barring a significant restructuring, it is likely to go bankrupt this summer. Although this news came out after the close of the market, shares dropped 10 percent to 18 cents in electronic trading. This follows a 32 percent drop this year".

How can a company have such great employees run into trouble. This is so sad....just breaks my heart!

I thought the top 2 pictures were kinda funny. The bottom one should be up for the award for best looking sign in the nation...but that's my opinion.
